After the sandinistas government, I became unemployed. With the few pesos that I saved I bought this little farm. It was nothing, mainly grazing lands for cattle. My neighbours were doing well as farmers and so...I decided to grow these little coffee trees. In the coming difficult years they fed me and my workers. I am very grateful to them and my faithful workers. This has transformed my life.

The Cup of Excellence is a strict competition that selects the very best coffee produced in that country for that particular year. These winning coffees are chosen by a select group of national and international cuppers and are cupped at least five different times during the competition process. The final winners are awarded the prestigious Cup of Excellence and sold to the highest bidder during an internet auction.

In addition this program teaches the farmers how to grow, harvest and age premium coffee to be the best in the world.
