Food, friends, family. It's living the life. The colors and fresh ingredients are everywhere. Life is an everyday celebration and food is a big part of that. I went outside the tourist town of Puerto Vallarta to Bucerais, a small town 20km up north. Here I watched Fisherman hauling in their morning nets at 6am accompanied by friends los pelicanos, farmers driving pick-ups selling their produce out of the back. Late afternoon, teenage boys dive the shallow waters off the shores gathering oysters. It's a natural oyster bed here. The town is named after them "the divers". This is a working class functioning town with a beat you can feel. People are kind & friendly, no lost generations, everyone works from kids to grandparents. Mexico is a society that works as a whole. It insulated itself from technological progress, preserved it's culture and their families have surpassed Western society in many ways. They have ended up further ahead by holding back... in my opinion.
